Spot Light on STEM: New Elective Courses
|
In the fall of 2019 BSMS introduced the first STEM course for students in 6-8 grades. Mr. Roberts has designed a course that exposes students to multiple aspects of STEM Education and thinking critically, creatively, and collaboratively; designing, building, problem solving, and following directions.

New Facilities - Fall 2019
|
During the summer of 2019, some of the middle school spaces received a face lift. The goal of redesign was to give students spaces where they can build, design, create, and collaborate. Furniture is easier to reconfigure when needed. Whiteboard walls provide tons of space for planning and collaborating. Storage cabinets house "maker" supplies and counter-tops showcase projects. |
Spot Light on STEM: After School Clubs - Spring 2018
For a few teachers who have been eager to try new technologies this year, the after school club program was the perfect opportunity to put new toys, I mean tools, to use! We basically created a large Makerspace spread across the building, designed some challenges and creative tasks for students, taught them how to use the resources, and then set them loose to design, build, create, collaborate, and have fun doing it! STEM & 4Cs at it's best.
Mr. Miller: Team Activities Ms. Mancuso: Coding and Robotics Ms. Leuschen: Collaborative Challenges and Team Building Ms. Shambaugh: Board game design using Tinker CAD and 3D printing to make game pieces Mrs. Grossman: Media production The students are excited to learn and use these new technologies. They enjoy the creative freedom as well. From our perspective it's exciting to see the students enjoy the learning that's occurring! |
